Tennis in the United States is played on three kinds of places: public park courts run by a city or county, member clubs and country clubs with their own pros and leagues, and commercial tennis centers that sell court time by the hour. Public courts are usually free and first come, first served, with a posted limit (often 60-90 minutes when others are waiting); busier cities run online reservation systems with a small fee and a permit for the season. Indoor courts are rented by the hour and booked days ahead in winter. Most facilities are hard courts; clay is common in the Southeast and at private clubs, and grass is rare. Lights extend play into the evening at many parks, sometimes with a coin or app-operated switch.
Hours are published for 7 days a week. On most of those days it is open 8 am–9 pm. Charlotte is in North Carolina, in the Southeast, where summers are long, hot and humid, winters are mild, and afternoon thunderstorms and the hurricane season from June to November can change plans at short notice. Getting around Charlotte is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across North Carolina's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

I want to start by saying that what makes Piper special to me is the people. The friendships, connections, and the inside staff are truly top-notch and a big reason I’ve enjoyed being here. The community is strong, and there are a lot of great individuals who care about the club. That said, it’s hard to ignore the ongoing frustration with the course conditions and overall upkeep—especially given the $50k initiation and $1,100 monthly dues. For that level of investment, expectations are understandably high, and right now the course simply isn’t meeting them. The greens, in particular, have been a consistent issue—often slow, sandy, and grainy outside of major events like member-guest. It’s noticeable when guests come out to play, and it doesn’t reflect the standard you’d expect. There are also areas in the fairways where drainage problems have led to significant erosion and trenching that have gone unaddressed for quite some time, without clear communication or a plan to fix them. More broadly, there seems to be a disconnect in communication between leadership—whether it’s the superintendent, GM, or corporate structure—which makes it feel like accountability is lacking. Attended a Christmas party here and the place and grounds are beautiful. Employees were very friendly and there is plenty of parking. It’s in the back of the neighborhood so you get to ride by all the beautiful small mansions to get to it.

This country club is a beautiful spot to get married. Catawba Cinematic Events filmed a wedding here in October 2025 and the on-site coordinator was very accommodating to our video team. This place feels so spacious that we forgot we were still in Charlotte the whole time. The ceremony space overlooks the lake and it's just a very elegant, serene atmosphere.

We recently attended an event at TPC Piper Glen, and everything was absolutely top-notch. The venue is stunning, the staff was incredibly welcoming, and the service was seamless from start to finish. Beautiful setting, amazing atmosphere, and a perfect place to host a special event in Charlotte!

They have an amazing staff! They are always so polite and very easy to work with. I recently worked with Maddy helping plan an event and she was great! The staff had the event space cleaned and set up soon arrival that morning. All of the guests were well taken care of. Not to mention the views overlooking the water and the golf course!
